Milk Glue...a sticky business...
|
|
This is along the lines of the "Little
Miss Muffet" rhyme and you get to make your own curds
and whey! The good news is that there are no spiders involved...
|
MILK GLUE RECIPE:
|
-
Add 1/2 teaspoon
of vinegar or acetic acid to 250
mL warm milk.
-
Stir and heat (not
boil) until the curds and whey appear.
-
Pour off the whey
and squeeze the curd through muslin
cloth.
-
Dry and grind the
casein curd into a fine powder and
add a little Borax (Sodium Tetraborate).
-
Add water to the
powder when ready to use the glue.

FIND OUT MORE:-
You could try this out...
-
Screw hooks into 2 seperate
blocks of wood and then glue the two blocks
back to back.
-
Hang one of the blocks by its
hook from a chair leg and hang masses from the
bottom block until the blocks come apart.
-
Make sure you keep a record
of the mass (in grams or kilograms) supported
before the breaking point was reached.
-
Compare the mass supported
before breaking with glues you can buy from
the shop.

Hey! Where did
he come from?
